After all the planning of last week we started on some work but lost a group member since she wanted to work alone. So it was me, Adisa, Roche and Tashaan. We started planning what to do in our adverts and what it should contain. We thought about how we should present the advert to the public.
During the day we began planning what we want in the adverts, flyers and posters. We explored our ideas about what the advert should contained for most of the day and decided to go with stereotyping with women and men in working area.

Campaign !
We have started our last Unit called Campaign. It involves us creating a campaign to raise awareness of one or more issues affecting women of today. As usual before we start doing anything in a Unit we do our research. We were given 5 campiagns to choose from and do some research on.
- Guerilla Girls
- Equals
- Dove Campaign for Real Beauty
- Pink Stinks
- Species Endangered
These Campaigns are all campaiging about women in different ways and they al have their own aims and objectives but they are from the same category.
We had an option where we could do a presention on powerpoint or a word document on our research. We had 4hrs to finish our research.
Then we had to get into groups of four to begin our planning for our own Campaign.
My group contained Buki, Adisa, Tashaan and Roche. We made a planning of what our campaign is going to involve. we decided to have both filming and advertising work such as posters and flyers.

Festival Day 2 - 9th March !
2nd day was a rush ! We got to the QEH at 9:00 to get the equipments and everything out by 9:30 because there was another festival for women at the SouthBank so we didnt have enough to waste messing around and wasting time. This time we had more to showcase because we had the Yr11 Steel Pans with us to play ''Colonial Mentality'', which I joined them in playing and so did Buki (from the diploma group alongside me). All performances went well in the morning but there were quite few fallouts and minor quarrels. Not every one were doing what they were supposed to be doing. The production team had problems where they didnt know who was introducing an act throughout the day. We used the same rota again for the day. WE had the Yr11 Steel Pans playing "Colonial Mentality" at the end of the day. There was also a Yr9 live drama performance. From the look of the audience the didnt enjoy it the first time so some of the diploma students gave the performers some pointers on how they could make the performance more interesting so they could get good reviews and even a clap... After a few more performances the live drama was much appreciated by the audience. Everything else was repeated twice including the music as usual. At the end of the day everything was nicely packed away and put in the moving van to return to the school. WE all gathered together and had a good rest and we were told to write everythng down that we did throughout the 2days of the festival so we know what to do when we come back.

Festival Day 1 - 8th March
The first day of the festival was a busy day!
We all had to meet up at the lower school at 8:45am to get marked in as present and also get on the coach for 9:00 am.
We got on the coach a bit late because there were people who didnt get to the lower school on time so we had to await their arrival. When they arrived we finally started our journey to the SouthBank Queen Elizabeth Hall (QEH), where the festival was going to take place for the 2days.
It took us about 45minutes to there. When we arrived we went through the back door of the QEH. We had to get all our eqipments from the Van and set up and get rehearsals done befire our first audience shows up to the Festival.
Before we could start rehearsals we had to setup the stage settings and make sure sounds were working properly, set up the steel pans in the right order (which took quite a lot of our time), set up the drum kit (which takes skill and good memory since it has a lot of parts to it), set up the viewng screen with a set of chairs for the audience to sit on while watching whatever it is on the screen, we setup the main stage chairs where the audience are going to come together and watch a performance. The DJing decks had to be set up at two posts, one on the main stage and one on the far end of the room for presentation use.
When everything was ready we started with steel pan rehearsals because there were people who still didnt know parts of other song that we were playing so we spent alot of time trying to get it right over and over again till it sounded good enough. The dance performers had to rehearse even more since they wern't ready to perform so they had to work even harder so that they could be fitted into the schedule for performances for the day. They had an option where they could either practice or just not do the performance. Luckily they got the dance right and performed.
The DJ's had to practice playing their songs to get an idea if what to play after each other. Two of the DJ's had to go over the mix for the dance performers since tgey were going to mix while they were dancing to it.
After reahersals were done, it was time to start the festival (morning). we had a route of how the audience and festival are goint to run smoothly.
Everything went well for the morning performance. After all shows were done we fed our first audience lunch and then they headed back to school and we had 1hr lunch break so we decided to explore SouthBank.
Later on in the afternoon everything had to be done again for our next audience. We got ourselves ready and in place and with music in the background everything went well again. The performance were good and much appreciated.
We had to pack everything up and put them in the QEH stage for tomorrow's use !

Preparations For Festival 5-7!
Today in Creative and media we first organised ourselves and split into groups in order of performers and production teams and production managers.
The production team were split up into different groups where they had responsibilites shared between them. A few people had to come up with routes of how the audience are to be taken around to watch the performances and viewings and also the timings and place.
The others had to look at the Human Rights Photography and choose the best ones that protray stereotypes to showcase at the festival. Also in regards to the types of audiences tha we have, such as primary school children, they had to have a separate photgraph work as they may not be suitable for the children to see since it may be disturbing to their eyes.
- The performers had to go into the hall with the dance teacher (Ms Shrubb) to practice the dance over and over again from period 1-2 (2hrs). they went over the beginning of the dance to see the formation and how good it looks.

Preparations For Festival 4 !
Today in the Creative and Media, in our groups we were all given tasks of what we had to do for the day. My group Music had to get the music and practice the dance for the festival and also set out meeting and rehearsal times for our Steel pans and DJing.
During first and second period we went into the hall and tried to remember the dance and practice it over and over again. We went over the first part of the dance which was the ballet music to a street dance, we only remembered this part of the dance and it was the beggining so we decided to focus on that part and get it perfect or at a good enough standard of performance.
we also tried to come up with some new dance moves to fill in the blanks.
After lunch we came back together to try and finish off any coursework that needs to be finished off only if we have no more work to do on the festival at the moment.
At 4th period Ms Williams came back. With me with her we discussed about the rehearsal times for the Steel Pans and DJing fo that they can be ready for next week so we have enough time before the festival.
We decided to start the DJing next week on Tuesday so we have about 3hrs of rehearsal or more. And Steel Pan will start in about two weeks or after holidays to get a full 3hrs of rehearsal so we know what we're doing.

Meeting At Gold Coast (4th February 11)
On that Friday night at the Gold Coast in Brixton (opposite tesco), we met up together with Ms Williams (Head Of Performing Arts), Betsey (Production Manager), and Kayce (A Fellow Student) and Me (Production Manager). We went there to have a discussion about the venue and if it'll be available to use, but unfortunately the manager Kwaku didnt show up and apparantly he had a funeral that he had to attend to...
We still got to look around and take pictures of the spots were were going to have some Screenings, Photgraphy, Art, Dance, Drama and where the decks for DJing and the steel pans will be set out.
